Attractive reflection

Seattle –September 30, 2014

Milliman, Inc., a premier global consulting and actuarial firm, recently announced the opening of an office in Cape Town, South Africa. The office will be led by industry veteran David Kirk and will serve Sub-Saharan Africa. The Cape Town location is a reflection of the sophistication and scale of the South African financial services sector and its role in leading financial services development on the African continent.

“The Cape Town office is the latest step in Milliman’s ongoing global expansion and is our first location in Africa,” said Bruce Winterhof, Global Life Practice Director. “Our goal with this new office is to become the largest, most respected provider of actuarial services throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. With our entry into this market, Milliman can bring worldwide lessons for dealing with regulatory change and uncertainty while still maintaining focus on quality work, profitable growth, and market expansion.”
The Cape Town office will provide a full range of actuarial consulting services to an array of clients, including life, non-life, and health insurers; banks; employers; and the public sector. Services will include modelling, analytics, merger and acquisition support, and industrialization.
The office opening also means Milliman’s cutting-edge tools—for data analytics, financial management, asset/liability modelling, and cloud computing—will now be readily available to insurers and other clients in the region.
