New Gun Laws

While the new gun laws are to be welcomed, thus promoting better controls of ownership and reducing the numbers of unlicensed firearms, one must wonder: have the authorities gone far enough?
What about doctors?
According to Aviation Consultant Henry Tours, there are some quirky statistics coming out of America at the moment, that might give you a headache (but don’t see a doctor about it).
According to the statisticians:
• The number of physicians in the US is 700 000;
• Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120 000;
• Accidental deaths per physician are 0.171 per year.

Now consider this:
• The number of gun owners in the US is 80 000 000;
• The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1 500;
• The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188 per year.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9 000 times more dangerous than gun owners! As Mr Tours points out, “Remember, guns don’t kill people, doctors do!”
It’s a fact that not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor. “Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand,” he adds.
“Note that out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention. Thanks to Palle for this.” By Henry Tours
